PowWow Gratitude

PowWow Gratitude

We have more big thank you's to share for those who made Cape Croker Pow wow possible.

This is also where the marvellous pictures come in so you can see them.

Dorene Keeshig was our pow wow coordinator again this year. She works tirelessly (she may say otherwise about the tireless bit) all year to make this happen.

She organizes funding and fund-raisers. She guides committee meetings. She listens to everybody's ideas rants, wants, needs, tries to implement it all and implement new important steps toward honouring traditions and honouring our veterans – the theme at Cape Croker Pow wow.

This year she introduced a beautiful moment after Grand Entry, when our Flag-bearers and current service-men and women saluted the veterans of the last generation

  • all that's left from the last world war -

I cried and could not stop.

Thanks to Dorene. Thanks to those warriors for their sacrifices. Thanks to those young service-men and women for their respect and their hard work.

Many more special moments happened at the pow wow this year.

I'll not name everyone in case they do not want me to.

A Jingle Dress dancer received an Eagle feather for her healing medicine.

Another dancer received a Morning Star blanket in a competition for style in the Jingle Dress tradition.

[about the Jingle Dress on the blog]

To MC all of this was Badassiga Elliot. It seems to be a family tradition (nod to Butch Elliot) and they are trés good at it!

Having little to do with tech while I was there, and being busy with volunteer stuff most of the time, I got a total of 0 pictures. Lol

My daughter-in-law, Felisha took some great powwow shots and here are a few.....

Messege From Dragonfly

At the powwow we saw a dragonfly so I told the story of Dragonfly as it was taught to me by my Uncle Tom, Spotted Eagle.
